Palmer has more experience and came into his own last year. He has become a leader for the Bengals. Oh yeah, having Ocho Cinco isn't gonna hurt your production numbers either. Rivers plays on LTs team and his role isn't to win games but not lose them. Rivers will benefit from defensives focusing on LT and shutting down Gates. Other than that he doesn't really have anyone else to throw to. Rivers has to start the season , Chicago, at New England, at Green Bay, Kansas City, at Denver including Indy later in the year. Bengals have a little easier schedule. Palmer will be on the pre-season MVP watch list. Rivers will be the guy handing off to the other preseason MVP candidate.

Defenses will focus a little more on Rivers this year and that will slow him down some. Plus Palmer has Chad Johnson.

rivers is overrated...rivers has LT which makes him have an easier time throwing because teams are focusuing on the best player in the league...carson palmer has chad, tj and the gang..palmer is a top 3 qb in the nfl..before and after his knee injury

The downside in Rivers case is that he has never had to really prove himself. If you are Norv Turner or any coach for that matter and you have the best player in the NFL in your backfield you are going to use him and use him often. Yes, Rivers has Gates to throw to but the rest of their receiving core is weak and unproven with Vincent Jackson and Eric Parker. Although Rivers had nice stats last year (22TD, 9INT, 3388 yds.) I don't believe he will duplicate those numbers in 2007. In Carson Palmer's case, he has a solid RB in Rudi Johnson to keep defenses honest, and he has a much better WR core than Rivers. Chad Johnson and TJ vs. Vincent Jackson and Eric Parker is not a fair match up . And let's not forget that Palmer will get back Chris Henry for the second half of the 2007 season making this unit even stronger. Palmer put up solid numbers in 2006 (28 TD, 13 INT, 4035 yds) look for him to improve on those numbers and see him reach his goal of completing 70% of his passes. One thing to monitor this year though is the strength of schedule. San Diego has the 17th toughest schedule with their opponents having a .504 winning percentage from '06 and playing 6 playoff teams from a year ago. For the Bengals they have the 8th toughest schedule with their opponents having a .512 winning percentage from '06 and also playing 6 playoff teams from a year ago. Even with that being said, I believe Carson Palmer is more polished and has the experience over Rivers and I look for him to have the better 2007 season.

As a team...philip rivers and the chargers have a better chance of winning the superbowl....but carson palmer as a quarterback will have the best year...philip rivers starting wide outs didnt have a touvhdown grab....(keenan and eric parker)...most of the balls thrown was to Gates and LT...philip needs a wide out...a good 1....but until den carson palmer will have the better year hands down
