Are Major League Umpires Making the Game About Themselves?
Week of bad calls: Marlon Anderson called out for Interference, Joba Chamberlain suspended for throwing inside, Alou called out on check swing- when will this end? Mike Silva of NY Baseball Talk believes major league umpires need to use more common sense when making these types of calls, do you agree?

Ending a game on a call like CB Buckner did in Philly is just not showing common sense. You let players determine the outcome, not umpires. Its the equivilant of deciding an NBA game on Free Throws- definately not something you want unless its obvious which in the case of Anderson I think it was not

People have been making this argument at least since I started following baseball more than 30 years ago. Every sport has blown calls. Aside from a few very visible bad calls, the umps do a very good job.
