BREAKING: Barry Bonds indicted on Federal perjury and obstruction of justice charges
After a 4 year investigation, Bonds was indicted. The all time home run king will receive a trial in Federal Court. The legacy of the 43 year old will obviously be in question given the asterisk debate, the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and returning next season to play. He faces 4 counts of perjury and 1 count of obstruction of justice. He could face up to a maximum 30 years in prison.

Wheres Mark McGuire in all this? Just about everyone in this era is using steroids of some sort, from football to baseball to cycling..Why is bonds so hated for it? because he performed better than other athletes on the roids? Is it race? is it because he had an abrasive personality? Or is it all three? Or some sort of twisted jealousy? If he did do something(which he probably did)he should be punished, but so should EVERYBODY else in baseball, but sadly that will never happen....

i agree with you genius, however, bonds lied..mcguire didnt comment on it..he said let the past be the past, meaning we all knew he did steroids and he admited it..he lied to a grand jury..thats serious stuff..30 years in jail..tell the truth

So Pj, you are saying he shoulda dodged the question instead of lying? Isnt that lying too in a roundabout sort of way? i get it, its HOW you lie instead of lying itself..Lets see if baseball returns all the memorabilia, ticket sales and stadium revenue that barry, sosa, and McGwire generated..Barry got the giants a new stadium.Since its all tainted, lets see if they tear it down...

This is the steroid era for baseball...as much as I can say barry bond is an A**hole, he did what probably 50-60% of the pro's did. The only reason he is in all of this trouble is because he is that talented, and broke the home run record. Barry is defiantly not a class act, but I mean think about all of the money the giants and the mlb has made off of him...and isn't it funny that as soon as he breaks the record, and doesn't have a contract with the giants the mlb throws him in the water, and isn't protecting him like they were....noone can say that the major league wasn't keeping him protected until the end of this season so that millions upon millions of people could watch him break that record, and actually watch all of that baseball just to see what happened......

genius again man i completely understand wat your saying..and dodging the question is just as bad as lying..they are both fraud..however here is the other thing..the whole issue of steroids and the testing and all this other stuff, did not come into effect until after mcguire retired..yes his records should be vanished just like bonds..but all these questions about steroids did not enter the major leagues until after barry bonds broke mcguires home run record. McGuire went to the trail..obviously he admitted something to somebody, because they are not after him..in my opinion 62 is still the home run single season record and 755 is the total. ..the other thing is bonds was taking it while all these questions were going on about steroids, and lying to everyones face about it..McGuire was a few years gone before this all happened...and mike..that is a very good point..where are all the people backing him up now..as i stated in the other topic...bonds did not need steroids..he was an all star player prior..

It's a damn witch hunt. I don't care for Bonds but the only reason we're not hearing about McGuire is cause he plead the fifth. Yeah, Barry lied but I thought it was his right to not incriminate himself especially when it seems he's being singled out. It makes me wonder, If he were just another second string player, who had'nt broke the all-time HR record would we even know who he is, much less wether or not he juiced.

PJ, why did these questions come up AFTER barry broke McGwires single season HR record? Both MCGwire and Sosa were big as houses during that time..Not a peep from anybody...Ill tell you why, baseball was floundering big time and they needed the positive press and income for the game those guys generated..Soon as Barry gets on the juice, and breake the single season HR record, all kinds of questions are asked..BARRY,baseball,The government,Sosa, and Mcgwire all all EQUALLY dirty and equally to blame for this mess, but only one will take the fall..Its just funny how baseball and the media took the revenue and the positive press of the hr chase to drive their ratings, but dump on these atheletes and call them the worst of the worst when it doesent benefit them anymore...Three guys on the juice,McGwire is retired and living comfortably,he roundabout lied to the grand jury.Hes white. Sosas still playing major league baseball despite steroid allegations and the corked bat situation. He pretended like he didnt speak english well enough to answer the question.Hes dominican. Bonds outright lied to the grand jury, hes out of baseball and faces up to 30 years in prison.Hes black..They all did esentially the same thing..Actually I forgot about Palmiero.he outright lied too, didnt he? Is he in prison? I dont think so...Its called selective justice..

you are all being fooled. bonds will win the trial. hank aaron gained 50 pounds over the course of his career. and he smoked and did not work out. bonds' work out sessions were legendary when he played for the pirates in the early 90s. aaron's home run power nearly doubled in his late 30s because of the extra weight -- and again, he smoked and didn't work out. bonds' home run power doubled in his middle years and only progressed in later years. so was he doing steroids in the mid 90s too? here is the question none of you can answer. last year, MLB tested for steroids. when people stop using steroids, they lose their muscle mass. did bonds lose weight last year? NO. did bonds lose home run power last year? NO. still a home run every 11 times at bat. don't be fooled by the government. they lose sometimes, and they make mistakes too. and, by the way, i am a white male and am only stating the facts. why hasn't bonds lost the weight now that he is being tested for steroids and hasn't tested positive? because he has been working out in the weight room for 22 years and the weight he carries is his own muscle. debate that. this man is innocent until proven guilty and there is a lot of proof that will come into evidence in this trial. the foregoing is just the tip of the iceberg against the government.

The quote I heard is that the government only moves on an idictment if they are 98% sure or something like that. In order for this to stick though they need to prove that he knowingly did take steroids. If they prove he did them it's only bad for his reputation, but he can still claim he had no knowledge that the creams and rubs were steroid enhanced. I mean I can see why he wouldn't question it. This is the same sport that people don't change their socks cause they think they're lucky. If he found a seemingly safe cream that "relaxed his muscles and helped him play better he'd stick with it.

I don't know about you, but I personally think Bonds should be band from the Hall of Fame. I mean Pete Rose got band for just betting on a game. Using roids it way worse and the penalty should be way worse too.
