I have to go with Cleveland here. Detroit showed signs of life last year and lost some tough games, but they still had a stud in Roy Williams, a very capable QB in Kitna, they brought in Tatum Bell until Kevin Jones was healthy and then they go and get Calvin Johnson. What did the
Browns
have?? An aging RB in Lewis, and oft injured "soldier" in Winslow and the biggest question mark at QB. After getting blown out against Pittsburgh in the season opener andthen trading Charlie Frye, everyone in America anticipated the debut of Brady Quinn no later than after the bye week. Suddenly this guy named Derrick Anderson stps in and has a monster game against Cincy and has quieted the Brady Quinn talk for now. The biggest question in Cleveland has to be what are they going to do with Anderson...sign him and bury Quinn on the bench with his large contract or let Anderson go and turn this thing over to Quinn and go out and spend the money on a RB like Michael Turner.

Browns
Detroit
Lions
add
everyone knows the
lions
have talent on offense so i dont think its much of a surprise, but the
browns
with the qb of now savior derek anderson and the emergence of KELLEN Winslow and Braylon Edwards, finally playing to their potential, their defense stinks but hey they are winning with their offense

Detriot has a lot of big names on their team so you expect them to do well, on the other hand the only big name I hear from cleveland is Jamal Lewis and I didnt really think they had a QB, they are climbing to the top and playing as a team, this was really unexpected.

I think you have to go with the
browns
they play in a tougher division with the
Steelers
and
Ravens
and the happless
Bengals
who can look good at times, But the
browns
have finally started playing together and have rythom on offense. Dereck Anderson has weapons in Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow and jamal Lewis. But its Anderson prufficient passing and not turning the ball over much which is winning them games. There defense is also playing better and not making the offense out score everyone.

Gotta go with the
Browns
here. Everyone's been expecting the
Lions
to do this for years and been getting disappointed. This weekend at Pittsburgh will tell.

They are both a surprise...I didnt expect the
Lions
to be "Good" but I expected something out of them because they have some very good offensive players for Mike Martz to work with. But I say the
Browns
are a bigger surprise...I expected them to be terrible and Brady Quinn to be starting by now. Derek Anderson has them rolling...Edwards and Windslow are great weapons. If they get a younger RB and some defensive help they are only a few yrs away from making a real run.

The
Browns
hands down. Detroit has talent, the only question was if they could put it all together. Now who thought the
Browns
would do what they are doing specially after the 1st game against the
Steelers
.

Definately Cleveland has to take top notching here, Detriot started to show life at the end of last season. But Cleveland has come from nowhere at all. They traded off there starting QB at the beggining of the season and everyone thought that was an opening for Brady Quinn to get his feet wet, but Romell Cromell knew that Quinn was not ready to start and put in Derek Anderson who is Probaly the 3rd best Qb in the AFC right now behind Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. So Cleveland has got to be the biggest surprise so far with a noname Qb at it helms and no defense what so ever and it seems like Anderson always finds a way to come up huge and pull out a win.So i have got to give respect where respect is due and Cleveland definately deserves some serios respect and if they nbeat up on Pittsburgh this weekend then they will be on track for a nice run into January... But we will have to wait and see....But they definately have some serios weapons for Anderson in Winslow and in Braylon Edwards.. Two key guys in the future of Cleveland...

THE
BROWNS
HAVE REALLY COME OUT OF NOWHERE TO COMPILE THIS RECORD THAT THEY HAVE NOW. WHILE THE
LIONS
WERE SUPPOSED TO BE AROUND THE RECORD THEY HAVE NOW BECAUSE OF THE TALENT THEY HAVE. I BELIEVE THE
BROWNS
DEFENSE IS GOING TO STEP UP AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW THE
BROWNS
ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!

Although both organizations have been stumbling for years, I think you need to go with the Cleveland
Browns
. It was expected that the
Lions
with all their offensive fire power to be where they are. On the other side, most people thought that Cleveland would keep the basement warm in their division. I wouldn't be surprised that even their management are taken back by what their team is doing this year. You have to credit the coach staff, and Romeo for finally letting his players loose. The offense has been opened and you are now seeing results. If a poll was taken at the beginning of the year, I would bet that 90% or better would take the
Lions
. Plus, everyone knows who the
Lions
Offensive Coord. is and expected big results. Quick, can you name the offensive coord. for the
Browns
? Exactly, the
Browns
are for real and they are the bigger surprise this season.

The
Browns
by far.....The
lions
are slipping away, and the
browns
are playing very consistantly. It's not just their offense that is impressive....their defense has been stepping up. They are a legitimate team come playoff time, and if I were any team in the AFC I would be afraid to play them. They can beat you with the longball, or they can pound you with their running attack with Jamal Lewis. Derek Anderson proved he is not a chump, putting up better numbers then peyton manning, carson palmer, and Jon Kitna . After week 1 when they got hammered by Pittsburgh everybody wrote their season off. Quietly they've moved from pretenders to contenders.

For years and years, they go out and get wide receivers and very little else. And with all these talented players nothing happened. Why? No defense. Sure Derek Anderson is a surprise, but if he didn't do it, we all thought Brady Quinn would have. No one thought the Detroit defense would be good at all and now it's one of the better units in the NFC, definitely the best in their division. That to me is the bigger surprise.

i would have to say it would be both teams coming from the bottom and rising to the top. both teams have some pretty good players and can sneak up on any other team at any time. but they both seem to spark real good then sputter at times. really no big names on the roosters but they seem to have put the word "team" into effect and that's what counts.

I don't know what they put in the water during the off-season but it worked. Detroit has done a complete 180 from last season (2-14). The big tests will come when they face Green Bay and Dallas.

I really have no choice but to choose the
Lions
as the surprise. This is one of those storied cursed franchises, like the Chicago
Cubs
. They were even losers when they had one of the best freaking running backs ever! Heck, there is this voice in my head (one of the many) telling me that the Lion wins are a freak thing and that by the end of the season, they will be beneath the
Bears
and the
Packers
.
