The
Browns emerged from the bottom feeders of the NFL to knock off the Superbowl champs 35-14 on Monday night. QB Derek Anderson was effective throwing for 310 and two touchdowns. An amazing performances considering he was averaging 135.75 yards per game so far this season. The key to the
Browns victory was time management, the
Browns ran the ball effectively first and opened up the passing game with target Braylon Edwards.
So what does this mean for your fantasy roster in week 7? Cleveland will go on the road to play Washington. The
Redskins' defense has allowed an average of 285 yards per game. They have forced 5 interceptions and 3 fumbles. Similar to the
Giants, the
Redskins are ranked in the top 10 of overall defenses in the NFL.
In week 7, Jamal Lewis will continue to get steady carries. Yet the key to this matchup is protection for Derek Anderson in the pocket. The
Browns offensive line did not give up a single sack on Monday night, they will have to hold off the
Redskins attack to allow for Anderson to have time to strike. Braylon Edwards will get plenty of attention by the Skins who have good corners in Carlos Rogers and Shawn Springs.
The final verdict. Lewis is a starter this week, he should get more than 20 carries and be a main option in the red zone. Despite a great week, Derek Anderson should still be considered a third tier QB. He won't put up the same big numbers on the road, so before you start him look at your other options. Start Jake Delhomme against New Orleans, Kyle Orton against Minnesota, Chad Pennington against Baltimore or J.T. O'Sullivan against the
Giants before you suit up Anderson on your team.
The biggest wild card of the game will be Braylon Edwards. He is a starter if you already have another big time receiver in your lineup. Edwards has obvious breakout potential but could just as easily be doubled and held to just a couple catches on Sunday. Think Terrell Owens, Edwards will face the same scrutiny that the
Cowboys star gets week in and week out. Unfortunately, the
Browns aren't very deep at wide out, so unlike the
Cowboys there are few other
Browns that can beat you down field.
