As we reach the half way point of the 2008 NFL season, there are several interesting situations that you should keep an eye on this week. How you respond to injuries can make or break your fantasy roster. In recent weeks, big names like Brian Westbrook, Joseph Addai and Willie Parker have been inflicted by injuries. Lets take a look at each of these situations going into week 8.
Brian Westbrook
The
Eagles will get their star playmaker back this week for the first time since breaking two ribs in week 5 against the
Redskins. In week 8, the
Eagles will host the
Falcons which should give Westbrook a favorable matchup for big points. Keep an eye on Correll Buckhalter, the backup running back that has filled in nicely for the
Eagles with 93 yards and a TD in week 6. Buckhalter should be benched but not dropped. If Westbrook has any problems during his return, Buckhalter could once again be a great start in week 9 as the
Eagles travel to Seattle.
Joseph Addai
The
Colts will face the undefeated Tennessee
Titans in week 8. Addai is listed at 50-50 to return from a hamstring injury and should be benched this week. Even if he returns, it is not likely he will get a full load of carries. The
Titans defense is stingy, giving up only 89.5 yards per game. Dominic Rhodes should fill in for Addai and is a good third option this week on your fantasy roster. However, the
Colts will have their hands full and it might be wise to check the waiver wire for guys like Cedric Benson, Maurice Morris or Lamont Jordan to fill the void.
Willie Parker
The
Steelers host the
Giants in week 8. Parker should start against the 5th ranked
Giants' run defense. It would be best to keep Parker on the bench this week as we see how his knee responds to game action. Mewelde Moore should continue to get carries given his impressive play during Parker's absence. Hang on to Moore if you grabbed him as a precaution to make sure that Parker will be back to 100% this season. With his 28th birthday right around the corner, Parker may have more difficulty recovering.
