There are certain players that seemed like a good idea at draft time which now are on the verge of being fantasy liabilities. After week 1 you have two choices. Firstly you can be proactive and get rid of them. Bench 'em, trade 'em or cut 'em depending on the value you think they might have in your league. It's early, if you make a move now you have a better chance to convince opponents to trade with you. Or secondly you can just ride it out. Hope that it gets better before it gets worse and perhaps concede any chance for dominance. You can't win without taking some risks so don't sit by and let this happen to your team. Now is the time to clean house. Here are a few players that should be booted from your team before they destroy your chances.
Larry Johnson- The
Chiefs have no offense line and no passing attack without Brodie Croyle. Johnson is susceptible to injury and he's losing carries to Kolby Smith. Trade him, he should still have good value in most drafts.
Willis McGahee- Uncertain as to how he will return from injury. Rookie Ray Rice is a double threat with good hands. Le'Ron McClain had 86 yards in the first week and runs hard. McGahee's best times are behind him, trade him.
Vince Young- The guy is having issues physically and mentally. With the recent knee injury he's out 4-6 weeks. There are not enough positives to keep him on your roster. Cut him.
Edgerrin James- Goal line situations are now Tim Hightower's. Once the
Cardinals get inside the 20, James goes to the sideline. In touchdown heavy leagues, James should not be a starter. Trade him.
Chris Cooley- The west coast system doesn't work for big numbers from a tight end. Jason Campbell is struggling and won't be the starter by year's end. Cooley is a good player in bad system. Trade him for his popularity.
Jerry Porter- Jacksonville runs the ball more than they pass. Porter is a third option at receiver to Matt Jones and Reggie Williams. Look for another option. Porter will struggle this season. Trade value is low but you might be able to package him in a multiple player deal.
Javon Walker- Wow! Can you even remember when he played in Green Bay? Good bye.
