Recently Forbes evaluated some of the biggest franchises in Major League Baseball. The Yankees were listed by Forbes as having $327 million in revenue last year and a $47.3 million operating loss, The Yankees are estimated to be valued at $1.036 Billion.

Google purchased the web's most popular video sharing site in 2006 for 1.6 billion in stock, not a bad deal for Youtube's founders given the hazy view of whether the site will rise from the financial sinkhole of bandwidth costs.

Meanwhile, back on the diamond, the average operating profit amongst MLB teams was $16 million over the past year. The Florida Marlins might just be a basement bargain valued at a mere $256 million, the Marlins had an operating profit of $35.6 million.

Attention all Powerball winning sports fans, the Marlins might be bad but you could laugh all the way to the bank. Just kidding, if you are a real sports fan you probably wouldn't be able to stomach being associated with the Marlins.

Its different though...Youtubes value is based on hype of future potential. You tube can rise and fall within a twenty years, but the Yankees will still be rising. Technology cannot replace the yankees with a better product.
