It seemed to me that the other Laker stars & role players played about as good as anyone expected. If Kobe could have done what the "best player on the planet" is supposed to, that is average 35-45 points a game then they could have won this thing. It seems that if Kobe has no one to individually compete against him he can put up crazy stats, but once somone in the opponents uniform begins taking it back at him he cowers away and becomes almost inviscible. I never thought i would have ever seen him so defeated and unwilling to really fight back. Kobe is still good, but all discussions of him compared to Jordan is just ridiculous after this finals. Jordan played harder, better, and with more fire when he had the flu and could barely stand up.

Well he is the leader of that squad and like thelma said he is known by some as the best player on the planet....it didn't look it this series...the guy had some amazing shots, but 20 some odd points a game doesn't cut it in the finals....especially when you have pau gasol who underachieved in these playoffs so horribly....odom did alright though...but yeah I agree with you thelma kobe should get most of the blame...but i don't feel as strongly about it as you do lol

Yep, the way to stop the Lakers is to shut down Kobe. The Celtics did it.

That best player on the planet title i think went out the window along with the title. Lebron at least dumped 50 on them, and i guarentee the Celtics would rather face Kobe in another series than Lebron. Pierce said his whole body hurt after the Cavs series. Kobe is not physical at all,he could have went to the line 20 times a game had he not been afraid of contact.

I dont think its just his fault...its the whole team,Gasol played like S**t he didnt attack at all he was scared of garnett, and odom was incredibly inconsistent.same with sasha...20 points one night then 2-10 or something the next game. its not just kobe and him scoring 50 would have been good but that alone cant beat the boston celtics. they play defense as a team not individualy which is why they did make it hard for kobe...its true that no one defender can guard him completely but a whole team could.Even after the gamethey still said he is without doubt the best player on the planet he just didnt have the support or the defense as a whole to stop the celtics.

when bynum is back it willl be different we will have some who is not afraid to attack or go for rebound which was also a big difference in the series.

kg91 you dont know that Bynum will be his same self when he comes back. He'll probably go back to being the same puss boy he was before.

ya the same puss boy that when he was 18 was ballsy enough to go dunk on shaq and then when shaq got agressive he stood his ground.

Nobody deserves the blame but the whole team. Kobe is the leader of that team. But its not like anybody else did anything right. I see a problem, when Kobe isn't the leading scorer, they lose. I dont think Odom is good enough to still get 20 while Kobe is gettin 25. He needs more shots. Team did great, but i think they need small changes.
