Normally the NFL season is filled with amazing rivalries and great games each week. Now I am not about to argue that week 4 is not important. Every week is a crucial step to the post season. But most every weekend I would race through my Sunday Ticket channels looking to soak in as many plays as possible. Not this weekend.
I may just be remote crazed to keep tabs on the MLB post season race instead. With the
Phillies, Diamond Backs,
Rockies and
Padres in a dead
heat in the NL as well as a
Cubs and
Brewers battling it out in the AL, baseball could be more interesting than the NFL this weekend.
With some lopsided matchups and an even clearer distinction between the best and the worst in the NFL there are certain games that should be left to 30 seconds of highlights.
CHANGE THE CHANNEL- These Games aren't worth watching:
Houston @ Atlanta -- News Flash Vick is at home, Harrington couldn't step up and Houston is not exciting without WR Andre Johnson, out with an injury.
NY
Jets @ Buffalo - Lossman stinks and is injured so we have to watch a player worse than he is. The
Jets will be lucky to win 7 games this year and Pennington is not the guy we thought he was.
Baltimore @ Cleveland -
Derek Anderson is no Brady Quinn and the Baltimore defense will prove it this weekend. McNair's better years are behind him.
Kyle Boller will start, even though he doesn't have the talent to do so in the NFL. This will be an offensive mess.
St. Louis @ Dallas - Blow out expected by half time.
Rams RB Stephen Jackson can't run without a decent O-line. He now has a groin tear and is out. Dallas is making good teams look silly. The
Cowboys will destroy the
Rams.
Oakland @ Miami - The
Raiders got their first win in Week 3 with head coach Lane Kiffin. Miami hasn't won a game this year. This will surely be a battle to secure the title of worst team in the AFC as long as the
Bills haven't taken the cake.
Pittsburgh @ Arizona - The
Steelers are back and running on all cylinders. The
Cardinals are 1-2 and pulled pretty boy Matt Leinart last week. This game would be more interesting if they kept veteran
Kurt Warner as the starter.
KC @ San Diego - New head coach Norv Turner is sinking the
Chargers. LT is upset. Rivers is a much better QB than the system allows. But it really doesn't matter. KC is horrendous.
Larry Johnson had a big pay day but forgot to show up on the field.
Chargers cruise in an easy win.
CHECK EM' OUT- These games could be decent but prepare to have something else to do.
Green Bay @ Minnesota - One reason to watch.
Brett Favre will break Marino's record. The
Packers should beat the
Vikings and start the year 4-0 as long as bad Brett doesn't emerge from the past to sabotage the
Packers. Definitely worth keeping tabs on this one.
Tampa Bay @ Carolina - Decent matchup especially given that Delhomme will most likely not play. Can Garcia lead Tampa Bay to an impressive third win in 4 games. If so, how many times does he need to pull a team out of despair for us to take him seriously as one of the best leaders in the NFL?
Seattle @ San Francisco - Two teams that have decent talent in players like RBs
Frank Gore and
Shaun Alexander. Should be a good game despite the fact that neither team has what it takes to make it far in the post season.
Denver @ Indianapolis - This should be interesting to see if Denver can find a run defense. Otherwise
Joseph Addai will rack up 150 yards and 2 TDs and the
Colts roll on to their 4th win.
New England @ Cincinnati - Monday Night should start out with a bang and end up with the entire country realizing if they have not already that the
Bengals will not make the Playoffs. Cincy has no defense, the Pats have Brady and Moss, you do the math.
That leaves 2 games that are must watch for me this weekend.
Chicago @ Detroit - Will the
Bears shut down Kitna and his high powered passing game? The biggest question of the week falls on one game- Is Griese going to be a Hero? I encourage people to watch this game if you are a football fan and would like to watch
Rex Grossman on the sideline where he belongs. Finally. About time. Good grief. The game should end with
Bears fans saying "How come Luvvie didn't do it sooner?"
Philadelphia @ NY
Giants - Which Quarterback will rise to the occasion on Sunday Night? Manning has been spotty but has shown he has improved. McNabb started out rough then exploded to prove everyone wrong. Which players will show up? Who knows? This is by far the best game of the week.
Overall, I am sure there will be many twists and turns to Week 4. I am sure I will watch highlights until Tuesday night but I'm also looking forward to Week 5.
