Should College football players be paid??
I think overall college football players should be paid. Teams and coaches are going through scrutiny because they are illegally paying their players with cars, apartments, hookers, you name it. Now granted, I dont' think college football would be as exciting because they're playing to get into the Nfl so they can be paid, but why not pay them. They're putting themselves through hell all year. I think they get a three week break after the season, and then they start summer camp. I don't think it should be just college football, it should be basketball, baseball etc.

The problem with paying college players especially those in Basketball and Football is that they are not going to be paid millions like they will in the pros. Flat out college sports cannot put up the numbers financially that pro teams and endorsements can! So you are basically giving a bunch of young kids money before they get more money-- all of which they know nothing about, nor how to use/spend it.

its not about being paid the millions..its about being paid something for the hard work we do. we are putting our lives on the line during football practices, not the other students..when it comes bcs time..schools make 20 million dollars for being in the games. Why cant the athletes who did all that at least get some kind of compensation. instead that money goes to the normal student body so they can upgrade some building on campus.thats not a way to give thanks to the 99 players putting their life on the line. its not about millions, it about the principle in general

Putting their lives on the line??? Then dont play sports. If you pay the football team then you need to pay every athlete on every sports team. Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Womens sports everything...You cant do that. Why dont they use some of that money to drive down the every increasing price of tuition in all American Universities? These kids get a free eductaion...that is worth A LOT of money, In some cases a few hundred grand. Is that not worth anything? I should pay the back up QB on a team a salary and a free education at a very expensive university??? He doesnt make the pros but gets a better job then me because he went to a better school and he got paid to go and I have to repay my student loans well into my 30's. Fvck that!!! Athletes get handed everything...they will make a ton of money IF they make it to the pro's.

dont forget, college athletes have every right to get part time or summer jobs. if you say that there is no time for them to get part time jobs cuz of their athletic responsibilites, i would ask you what they need money for. if they are too busy to get some kind of job, how do they find time to go out and spend money? if anything, they should get paid $20 bucks a week maximum. these guys' days are pretty full, they should rarely have time to go out, and they dont have to pay for any food, so basically if they need more than 20 bucks a week its cuz theyr spending it on alcohol at the bars and on pot.

They absolutely should not be paid. Reason, they are getting a free ride unlike the rest of the country. That is their payment. They won't have school loans to worry about once they are out of school. What is the average college tuition, around $25,000/year. So, I hope that they will never be paid, they should be lucky that they are getting an education for free. Now if we could only get them to study and go to class.

HELL NO THEY SHOULDN'T GET PAID, ITS COLLEGE MORONS!!! THEIR GOING THERE TO LEARN AND GET BETTER SPORTS EXPERIANCE. THEY PAY TO GO TO COLLEGE, NOT GET PAID TO GO. THEY'RE NOT PROS, THEY'RE KIDS OUTTA HIGH SCHOOL TRYING TO LEARN AND HOPEFULLY GO PRO. IT WOULD TAKE AWAY FROM THE HEART THEY PUT IN KNOWING IF THEY PLAY GOOD THEY MAY GET NOTICED, IF THEY GET MONEY TO PLAY THEY WON'T HAVE THEY HEART THEY DO NOW. ITS COLLEGE NOT NFL OR NBA!

I would want to say yes they should be paid but when you think about it, it would just be chaos everywhere. You basically have a billion T.O.'s running around saying well i should be paid more then him cuz blah blah blah. Colleges bearly have enough $ to pay for euipment, add's, care ect. so if players left high school to go to college to get paid then smaller schools that are as good who get little recruits as it is are gonna have even less leading to that school having to cancle that sport. Also the #'s are just so high. Theirs been so many NFL players, then in college it must be dozens of times bigger then that and no school could afford that really. So i would have to say no.
