I think it would be horrible for the sport as a whole. Not being a hockey fan myself, I really just watch it for the fights. Not taking anything away from hockey players though, those guys are as tough as nails, just never could get into the sport. It would be bad for hockey as a whole.

I think people need to realize how the sport has evolved into more of a finesse game with less fighters and therefore less fighting. With that being said, fighting has become an integral part of the game. Fans are lucky to get a fight a game whereas it was common to see 3-5 fights a game back in the 80's and 90's. Fighting needs to remain in hockey for stability as well as keeping their ever increasing fanbase (new attendence record set this year). It is unfortunate that so many concussions this year have resulted from late/dirty hits but that is unfortunately a part of the game.

I think fighting is part of what makes the game great. It is such a game of skill and agility however you better keep your head up!
