I say he still has some game in him I mean three years ago he had a MVP type season.I know the injuries has maybe slowed him down a little, but i think he can go to oakland be a starter for 2-3 years, while mentorin Jemarcus and helpin him become a godd qb for years to come.SO say he is bth,a Starter and Mentor.I dont think he will go the Kurt Warner route.

i think he will start..dont think al davis is going to waste time with him if he doesnt perform..he will be gone..but with rusell probably going to miss all of camp..they need someone to step up...mcnown is unproven, but cullpepper heathly could be a good qb

On the surface, the mentoring angle looks good, similar body types and style of play, but JaMarcuss has a stronger, more accurate arm than Culpepper. Culpepper was signed to push Russell to get his deal done. (1yr opt out deal for Culpepper) Now Russell knows he isn't gonna start until late in the season at the earliest, barring Daunte's health. Al Davis isn't gonna put up with the signing crap especially from a rookie. You look at Culpepper post-Moss and he hasn't had a good season since. Even before his health issues. The fact Oakland's O-line isn't much improved, along with a shaky backfield, Lamont Jordan isn't scaring any defenses, Culpepper will fair no better than he did in Miami. His future in the NFL has turned to veteran journeyman.

Yes Culpepper could step in and start for the Raiders for a couple of games, but so could Joe Montana. The Raiders have had some bottom feeder quarterbacks for a while now, and Culpepper would fit that description. Putting him in would do the team no harm, because he is an experienced quarterback who could run the offense, but when Russel does sign, all of the experience should be focused on Russel and mentoring him, because they are similar players.

HE is nothing without Moss and Carter. He was exposed his last years in Miinn he used the injury excuse last year and he is going to suck in Oak. I also dont see him mentoring anyone...I see him being a dick to JaMarcuss Russell.

He has a little left in the tank, and will take the roll of starter, however his main purpose is to help Jamarcuss adjust to the league. He will be functional mentoring a player of similar size and play style.
