Face it...Steinbrenner doesnt care about Torre's iconic status or what kind of a coach he is. He wants one thing...WINS!! Bottom line is the yanks are out in the first round and Torre is out of a job. Maybe someone else can come in a do something with the talent that Torre couldnt.

I think letting Joe go, is a bad mistake on stoogebrenners part! The man is an icon in the city and a huge part of the team! and I just cant phathom the team without him! But ol' George is gettin senile now...so, who knows what he will do after the loss. I will always love Joe Torre! Great man, great skipper!

I think its dumb for Steinbrenner because Torre is such an icon in the city and more importantly his players look up to and respect him. Obviously Joe has proven to be one of the greatest coaches in our era by his accomplishments. Letting that go is insane. I guess a good question is, will he coach somewhere else and what is the price tag to get him there?
