"Team of Destiny" is a ridiculous concept, but if ever a team qualified for this moniker it would be the 2007
Patriots. Rolling like a well-oiled machine, the Pats have piled up a perfect 17-0 record, and appear destined to meet-up with Brett Favre in the Super Bowl. All the ESPN sportscasters are wetting themselves at the thought of it. The
Chargers are playing well right now, but injuries, weather, and the long trip East are all factors working against them. Brady and Coach Bellichick have a combined 27 playoff victories. Rivers and Norv Turner have 4. Manning carved up the
Chargers for 402 yards, and would have won the Divisional game if not for horrible red-zone playcalling and decision-making. Brady won't make the same mistakes. He'll toss 2-3 touchdowns, probably to Welker and Gaffney, and the
Patriots will advance to the Super Bowl. Everybody's favorite new DB, Antonio Cromartie, will shield Moss, opening things up for the other receivers. I think Maroney will have to be a factor as well; look for him to continue his solid play and maybe get 70-80 yards on the day. Bottom line, these
Patriots shelled San Diego 38-16 earlier this season. They put up over 400 yards of total offense. Is San Diego better than they were then? Of course, but they are also injury-plagued, and lack the playoff experience of the seasoned Pats. It should be a great game, closer than the experts think, but New England will win, 27-20.
