Who will be the starting Quarterback on Opening Day for the Jets: Chad Pennington or Kellen Clemens?
The New York Jets always seem to have the most controversy when naming their starting quarterback for the season. Whether it was Vinny or Pennington or Ray Lucas or Kent Graham no one knows who will have the job until season starts, but who will be this years starting quarterback Chad Pennington, Kellen Clemens, or Possibly even Eric Ainge? The best debate will win a $25 Gift Card to www.overstock.com
did anyone expect it to be Brett Favre..

unfortunately, no one has one this contest

ok here i go with my analysis of the jets quarterback controversy..in my opinion..i dont think either one of these quarterbacks will be behind mangold to start the season. I am going with the dark horse, rookie Eric Ainge. Pennington has proven in the past he could win the games. and clemens has shown flashes of brilliance, but both have very troublesome habits..pennington with no arm, and clemens likes to throw into coverage. but by the end of camp, i am going to go with Tennessee QB Erik Ainge. If anyone watched him play, you will see why. Played in the SEC for 4 years, was a projected 2nd round pick, however, he had many injuries in his 2007 campaign, but his numbers were amazing. going on to set school season-records by completing 325-of-519 passes (62.6%), as he gained 3,522 yards with 31 touchdowns and ten interceptions%u2026His 31 scoring tosses rank second on the school's annual record chart%u2026His 3,522 aerial yards ranked second in the SEC and 17th nationally%u2026His average of 23.21 pass completions per game placed him 20th in the nation and second in the league%u2026Played behind an offensive line that allowed only three sacks for the season. he has the arm strength and is more mobile then pennington. with a good offensive line, he could compete for this spot..so dont be surprised if he comes in and starts..but if he doesn't it has to be chad..chad had lead the team to many playoff appearances

I think Chad will be the opening day quaterback. Kellen Clemens did not seem to be much of an improvement (they went 4-12). I think Chad is the better quaterback. Arm accuracy is more important than strength. After almost a full year off, Pennington's arm should be 100%. He should be able to throw the ball deeper this year. Also, the veteran should be on the field to coach some of the young players. Also, when he was healthy he took them to the playoffs.

Kellen because he is young versitile, and really impressed New York on his short run with the Jets. Also he has such a strong arm, Pennington has lost his arm. I think Pennington would be a great coordiator and together they can make a great quarterback.

Its time to move on. Kellen deserves a full year to play. But the Jets will make them battle it out so neither gets all the reps with the first team therfore the Jets offense will sputter into the season like they always do. Same old Jets.

I'm a dolphins fan...so i really hope it's chad pennington, but they gotta go with clemons....pennington can't throw the ball more than 20 yards down the field, he is still very accurate, but he has no long ball..plus he's about as slow as anything and they don't have the best line...even though they spent big time money in free agency on that line it doesn't mean that it will work out...if you want a young athletic gifted quarterback go with clemons...he's only going to get better ...and with chad's case it seems like he's only gettting worse with each year...as he becomes a little older and a little more beat up.....even if pennington does get the nod to start chances are he is going to get injured and clemons will be the guy anyways

I think that Kellen Clemens is the better starter for the 2009 season because their team is not good and he is young and needs experience for later years. He also has better arm strength as many people know He has Chad to mentor him to have better accuracy and make better decisions. This is why Kellen will be a better pick for the new season

Clearly, there are less questions about Pennington than there are with Clemens. The problem with Pennington is that the answers to those questions aren't necessarily positive. Clemens is an unknown at this stage, but he was drafted to be the quarterback of the future, and the future is now. This may be a win-now team, but they can only win so much with Pennington. Give Clemens some talent around him, something he sorely lacked last season, and the results should improve, dramatically. Either way, the Jets need to find out what they have in Clemens soon. If he's a bust, they can cut ties with him soon. If he's the quarterback of the future, it would be a shame to leave him on the bench. They can't afford to make the same mistake they did with Pennington, where they did not have enough time to decide if he was the quarterback of the future before giving him a $64-million contract. Clemens is undoubtedly the best option long-term to start this season, and despite the statistics, he may be the best option in the short-term as well. GO Patriots.
