the best player in the nba is kevin garnett without a doubt. he is the best all around player. if we go just by offense it would be kobe but kg is better all around. he led 4 straight years in rebounds from 2004 to 2007 he is the only player in our era to lead in 2 of the 3 major stats when he lead in points and rebounds in 2004. he has the most seasons in the history of the nba with 20 ppg,10 rpg, and 5 apg. he has led 5 straight years from 2003 to 2007 in efficency which is the stat that puts all statistics in effect. he is arguably the best all around player ever in the history of the nba. its not that difficult to realize that he is the best player in nba.

at the espy's they already announce kobe bryant as the best athlete in the world ..............and kg couldn't even get mvp in the final or in the season awards

KObe is great and this is his prime so maybe i will give it to him for now but Lebran James is on his way to becoming the greatest player we have seen other than Mike!! Once he locks in on his jumper and gets it a bit more consistent he will do things we never saw like a 40 20 20 game or something!!! K.G. may be the best complimentary player but he is not the best he is very passive at the end of games and is happy giving the spotlight to someone else his numbers are great and he is a Hall of Fame first ballet lock but dont get it twisted he isnt even the best player on his team!! (Paul Pierce)
7/24/2008 5:03 PM ET

see you both said at least one thing very stupid.
jazz fan, kg has one an mvp and if there was an award for the whole playoffs it would be kg while pierce and allen had games under 5 and 10 points kg picked up the slack and kept them in it and kobe only won the mvp because he has never won it, chris paul was the mvp this year.biggs72 your just smokin some kind of rocks, we wont see lebron have a 40 20 20 game. ill give you the fact that kg does give up the ball but its not just the last second that counts. kg has hit buzzerbeaters in his day.and to say paul pierce is better than kg is straight up dumb. paul pierce is a better offensive threat but kg made him play better team defense he made the whole team play better defense.and by the way jazzfan the espys are a fan voted awards show, the whole world is confused on what basketball is. its not shooting 1400 shots in a year or making nice layups and dunks its a team game.

kg might very well be, but i have an other player on my mind which is kobe bryant. as we all know it kobe may be the best player who ever lived to play the game and its such a treat that we get to see him play. to see a player as good as that and as versatile and an amazing athlete. is way to much of a great player. so my pick is kobe
7/25/2008 5:54 AM ET
okay, so he won an mvp that doesn't matter that was then this is now, so he might have been the best not anymore, and you said something stupid, the mvp should have been paul and maybe true but if that is the case then kg isn't the best cp3 is

god this has been posted soooooo many times..kgdan i dont think you relize that just about every NBA player says that Kobe is hands down the best player in the NBA. yes even Lebron. Kobe is possibly the most talented player to ever pla...(yes even more then mike) Kg is a great player but he is not the best. He does not have near the offensive prowess kobe has. Top 5 yes but not the top. Lebron is a great great talent and everybody knows it but he has ALOT of flaws in his game...his jumpshot and perimeter shooting his ft shooting and most importantly his DEFENSE! to be the best player in the NBA you have to be consistent on both ends of the floor which lebron does not do.CP to me is the 2nd best player in the game all-around. he has more offense then garnett and he steps up on the defensive end. he is a better playmaker then garnett. But whe it comes down to it Kobe is still the Top Player in the game and has been since abut 2000 when he tookover the playoffs when sahq was on the bench in foul trouble (shaq even said it in a interview after the game). He has greatr defense(2nd in dpoy award and everyone knows is probly the best offensive force the game has seen.

if your going to put a comment on this dont just say everything everyone is saying. actually put some stats in. make yourself sound like you know what your talking about.
7/26/2008 7:30 PM ET
i hope your not talking to me about how i know nothing...stats arent everything. Garnett is great dont get me worng he is one of my fav players but he is simply nt the best
7/26/2008 8:32 PM ET
lol kobe is in his prime there is no ? to whos the best player in todays game its kobe hands down everyother great player has even admited it lebron even said kobes the best in the league i mean cmon seriously..
7/27/2008 12:35 PM ET
Personally, i dont think LeBrons defense has been that bad lately
7/27/2008 9:22 PM ET
look everyone looks at the way kobe scores and assumes hes the best. thats not what determines the best. kg had a horrible year to his standards and still was up for mvp, still won defensive player of the year and was still top 5 in efficency in the nba. he can do everything at an above average level except for three point shooting. he is better at his position than kobe is at his. if your just going to go by what other people say why dont u check out video games. kg is almost always number 1 overall. check out your games the last few years and its because he can do everything. kobe is a better scorer but kg plays the game of basketball better and i dont understand why im the only one that thinks this lol

CHECK THIS OUT. I KNOW ITS FROM A COUPLE YEARS AGO BUT ITS SHOWS ME HOW LONG KG HAS BEEN THE BEST.I FOUND THIS ARTICLE ON A WEBSITE.
The sportswriters selected Steve Nash as MVP this season. I have noted previously that Steve Nash had a very good season, ranking in the top 10 in Wins Produced. Previously I also argued that Jason Kidd was a bit better, ranking second overall in Wins Production and first among point guards.
But even Kidd was not the most productive player in the league. As Malcolm Gladwell revealed yesterday on his website, I analyzed the 2005-06 season and the player who led the league in Wins Produced was Kevin Garnett. Garnett finished the season with 26 Wins Produced. This marks the fourth consecutive season Garnett has been the most productive player in the NBA. Yet the sportswriters didn%u2019t show KG any love when it comes to the MVP voting. Not a single sportswriter named him on an MVP ballot. He also wasn%u2019t named to the All-NBA First Team, Second Team, or Third Team.
The problem for KG is not his game, but his teammates. In 2002-03 Garnett produced 31.5 wins. The rest of his team produced 15.1. The next season Garnett produced 30.5 wins while the rest of the T-Wolves produced 25.3 victories. The increased productivity of his teammates allowed the writers to notice Garnett and give him the league MVP award.
In 2004-05, as we note in the book, Garnett was essentially the same player who won the MVP. He produced 30 wins, but his teammates only produced 14.8 victories. This past season, just to make life even less fun, his teammates only produced 9.4 wins. So over the past four seasons, Garnett%u2019s teammates have averaged 16.1 wins per year. Although Garnett is averaging close to 30 wins per season, it is not enough to overcome the performance of his co-workers.
This past season no player in the league had less productive teammates. Only two of his fellow T-Wolves posted an above average wins production per-minute played %u2013 Wally Szczerbiak and Eddie Griffin %u2013 and one of these was traded away during the season. And Griffin was only barely above average.
And that is the tragedy of Kevin Garnett. Year after year he is the most productive player in the league. And year after year he plays with many players who are not only not average, but quite a bit below average.
I should note that KG%u2019s Wins Production has declined each of the past four seasons. He still leads the league, but the difference between him and everyone else gets smaller each year. Soon Father Time will take its toll and KG will no longer dominate the NBA. Hopefully before that happens, he finds a few co-workers who can help him achieve the recognition his performance indicates he clearly deserves.

kg bgarnett better at his position then kobe is at his??????are you fu**ing kidding? Kobe is the CLOSEST player ever coompared to jordan is acclaimed to be the best ever. and alot of ppl think that kobe is even better then mike. KG is maybe top 5 alltime at his position. but kobe is matching the the greatest player ever and is maybe to other people ever.
7/29/2008 7:23 PM ET
and its not just the way kobe scores that we say he is the best its the way we look at his entire game. The way he makes it seemd like if he wanted to he could score or shut down any player no problem.
7/29/2008 7:25 PM ET
see if kobe was that good like your making him seem he would have won the championship without a problem. intstead they got embarassed.
7/30/2008 11:13 AM ET
one series isn't the world , and not to diss kg cuz he's tight but if he is so much better why couldn't he win without allen and pierce
7/30/2008 5:07 PM ET
exactly and besides no one superstar that i know of has ever won a championship by themselves.
