OK Now what will the NBA Think: LeBron James their poster child will take an offer for a team in Europe if they pay more then a NBA Franchise when he becomes a free agent!!
A person close to James said Tuesday that the Cavaliers' superstar would strongly consider playing overseas if he was offered a salary of "around $50 million a year." James' current contract expires after the 2009-10 season, and while several NBA teams are working to create salary cap space for his impending free agency, none could offer a contract beginning at even $20 million a year.

I DONT THINK THERE ARE ANY WORRYS. THE MAIN REASON FOR EVERY PLAYER SHOULD BE AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP NOT MORE MONEY THAN THEY ALREADY HAVE.

"Should be" being the key words in your comment. Greed and "the love of money" has superceded "the love of the game." Many of today's stars measure their success with the dollar sign. With the decline of the US economy, as well as the ridiculous scandals in the NBA, people will flock to the highest bidder.

I agree bchelgren but I could also see this as a negotiation tool. Is'nt his contract in a year or two?

Mayhem, good point, this could be used as a very effective tool to get more out of his next contract. However, there is a limit to how much an NBA team can pay without significantly cutting back elsewhere.

Just saying that he would consider playing overseas for the right amount of money proves that money is more important to him than an NBA championship.
