Honestly, if you ask me. This is a good situation. Not for other teams though, but for the
Chargers. As already stated, the linebacker core of the
Chargers is one of, if not the, best in the league. It will give the team itself a chance to prove itself. Knowing from experience from last year with the loss of Freeney with the
Colts, it gave us perspective about how we needed to make sure that if one of the better parts of our defense was down, how to make sure that we as a unit would still hold strong. I believe that Merriman should sit out though, not doing so would be more selfish than anything, and would possibly lead to a very short career for a very talented athlete.
