I think he will play he might be a little off because of the injury but i think he will play if he does decide to have the season ending surgery the Chargers will do fine merriman's back up jyles tucker is a beast and shaun philips is just as good as merriman he only had three less sacks then merriman but 2 more int's than merrman and the same amount of tackles everytime tucker has filled in for merriman he's gotten sacks he had one 3 sack game last year i think he can be great im not saying he will step in and be lights out but he will be a good substitute if merriman can't play

Wow what a hit for the chargers. their best overall defensive player out for the year. Ouch, plus most ACL injuries keep a player out for a full year and most have a bad second year back like deuce mcalister after his ACL tear. This is really gonna hurt the chargers.

I think he should just get surgery and not risk further injury but who know what will happen all i know is it will suck to lose him but jyles tucker has had a sack in almost every game he's played in and his one start he had 3 sacks i think this guy can be great of course i would rather have merriman out there but if he ends up having the surgery i think we have a good substitute.

charged you cant say this isn't gonna hurt. i know tucker is a great backup but in no way does he play as well as merriman. The chargers have a great linebacker core but Merriman was the best player and leader of the group. This is gonna hurt them, no doubt.

you will see curtain u wont even realize he's gone we got alot of talented young outside linebackers though it will suck not having him out there cause he's a fan favorite but we will be alright.

Even without Meriman, Chargers will still have one of the top five defenses in the league....

You know i am saying this with all due respect because Merriman is probably the best linebacker in the league but i am glad he is hurt. Yes because i am a Chiefs fan it's about time that he got a taste of his own medicine after steroid use then horse collaring Priest Holmes a few seasons ago, he needs to be out for the rest of his career. So if he wants to play football let him play, he will have to deal with the consequences of his actions. Yes he should sit out the season, have the surgery and be healthy and ready to kick the Chiefs a$$ next year lol. But on a football fan stand point maybe him being out will give the defense some time to play as a whole instead of just a few pro bowl players.
