Since Mike Krzyzewski has been the head coach, Duke has only lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament once (once!) in 22 appearances. Coach K's glare alone will be enough to motivate the Blue Devils past VCU, but they won't make it much further than that. Duke's guards Scheyer and Paulus have to step up to control the quick VCU guards like Maynor and Walker. It's important to note that Duke has an active streak of nine straight Sweet 16 appearances, the second-longest in college basketball history.

there is no way duke is going to lose this game. they are going to win this game and more. i think duke is going to go very far in this tournement because greg paulus, john sheyer and josh mcroberts are going to carry them into their 10th strait sweet 16 appearence.

Duke wins, and wins easily. Watch out for Duke to beat Pitt as well. This is what Duke wants, to have everyone believe that they are down and out. Coach K, will have them ready to shock the world. Look for Duke to get deeper in the tourney than you think.

Duke will be in the Elite Eight. They are 5-1 against teams in the tournament that are outside of the ACC. Not only will they beat VCU, they will beat Pitt and UCLA. Coach K will have this team ready, and without a lot of pressure, they will go far. Talk of a VCU upset is silly.

yes, duke is in a down year for their program right now. yes, duke is not playing at an elite level by any stretch of the imagination. yes, virginia commonwealth is a solid team. yes, virginia commonwealth beat last year's cinderella george mason in the colonial athletic tournament final to make it into the tourney. that all being said, NO, they will not beat duke. duke is just a much more well rounded basketball team, they have far more talent, they have too much size, they are still duke, VCU squeaked by Mason on a miracle performance by eric maynor, and this is still the NCAA tourney. now, to break down the x's and o's of the game. VCU is led by 3 guards, all who score 13 and 15 points a game, and are all smaller than 6'4, eric maynor (who sank george mason), b.a. walker, and jesse pellot-rosa. their two frontcourt starters are both only 6'7. they would need big games from all three guards, and good interior defense and rebounding from their big men, who are dominated lengthwise by duke. duke can go 7 deep, including 4 starters averaging double figure points. duke's guards, led by greg paulus and demarcus nelson score on average more points than VCU's guards, plus they have the 6'10 josh Mcroberts, who i expect to dominate. mcroberts averages 13 pts, 8 boards a game, against bigger teams in the ACC, so imagine what kinda chaos he is going to cause the Ram's big men. Mcroberts is gonna be the one to step up big in this one, he is most certainly going to be the X factor and the force that VCU will not be able to handle. also, duke's bench is far deeper than VCU's. VCU is a nice mid major, who have had a great year, but their record is inflated by the lack of stellar competition. duke is the bigger, better, more talented team in this one, which is why i dont expect a VCU upset, and would not be shocked if duke won this one fairly easily.

No way the Blue Devils lose their first game in this tourney. VCU is weak on the inside and Coach K will exploit that. Expect McRoberts to get a lot of touches inside and a lot of slashing by Nelson and Henderson, creating kick-out passes for Scheyer to knock down threes. McRoberts gets a double-double and Blue Devils roll by double digits.
