Did Kelly Pavlik duck Paul Williams?

Pavlik was scheduled to fight one of the most avoided fighters of recent times, Paul Williams, who boast a record of 38-1 with 27KO's. On Oct. 21, Pavlik withdrew for the second time because of persistent problems with his left hand stemming from a staph infection and two subsequent surgeries. Pavlik and Williams were originally scheduled to fight on Oct. 3, but that date was pushed to Dec. 5 before being canceled. However, Pavlik will fight Miguel Espino on Dec. 19th. Does 2 weeks really make that much of a difference or did Pavlik take the easy way out of the much anticipated bout?
